Darek Lenczowski: From this camp people will go home happy.

Marta Seweryn: How did you like this camp?

Darek Lenczowski: I liked it very much and I think, that what Kuba is doing here is a great job. I attended some other camps before, but here is specific, and I have the feeling it is because of Ronnie´s presence. He showed us a little different point of view on basketball, he showed us differences and this helps us to better understand basketball and get to know it. This is really a great camp.

Have you attended some similar summer camp before?

I have been to similar 2 or 3 times.. rather 2 at the camp of Alan Richardson in England. The formula of this camps is similar, but I think here the level of games is better, for the campers games are really good competition to referee. It helps here to gain experience. Alan’s camp is also very interesting, but the level of games is much lower.

Have you found something for you here, some lessons?

With no doubts, yes. Speaking and listening to lectures of Ronnie, Sasha and Kuba and also speaking with campers. It is very important, because we are learning from campers a lot of interesting stuff. It was good experience for me.

What impression made Ronnie Nunn on you?

Tremendous. This is a men that equals basketball and besides basketball he is impressing person. Always happy, cheerful, smiling, open, with great knowledge, I am very positive surprised.

How would you estimate cooperation with Sasha and Kuba?

With Kuba we know each other many years and we had always good cooperation in the court and out of it. I had the pleasure to meet Sasha for the first time here and he also very nice person, rich in experience. Because I have to say it clear that in referees world the personality is number one! People here are great to work with from professional and social point of view.

Do you think that summer camps are solid education, professional attitude, or rather relaxation after the season or maybe they are good fun and entertainment?

I always treated camps and tournaments like they have two aims: first to gain new experience, skills, and second to spend a good time. For sure people would not be happy doing only one of those things. If they just come for studying and lectures, and no possibility to spend nice evenings together, speak, laugh. And the same if they just come here to have fun with no learning at all. I think that the crucial thing is the good proportion. From this camp people will go home happy, I am sure.

How in you opinion, as an instructor and experienced referee, should referee present himself in ordinary life?

He should be kind, friendly, smiling man. Optimist. Nice to people.

How do you prepare yourself to the coming season?

One of the points of my preparation was my attendance in this camp, because as I said before, instructors not only came here to give, but also to take from each other, observing colleagues in the court, watching which mistakes they do and we learn together how not to do them. I also go to summer tournament to Gdynia and for sure I will referee some preseason games. In addition to this I will also watch some games on dvd.
